The Roots Kunta Kinteh Island Tours
Kunta Kinteh! He’s a legendary figure in Gambia history and symbol of resilience and strength. The Kunta Kinteh island is a UNESCO world heritage site and a must-visit destination.
Kunta Kinteh was a real person, a Mandinka warrior who was captured and sold into slavery in the 18th Century. His story was immortalized in Alex Haley’s best-selling novel “ROOTS” which tells the story of his journey from Africa to America.
The island where he was held is now a museum and a memorial to the victims of the transatlantic slave trade. It’s a powerful and emotional experience to visit the island and learn about this dark side of history.
